Bill Rubin resigned Tuesday as the city’s supervisor of elections to mount a campaign against Councilman Brian O’Neill (R-10th dist.).
Rubin is expected to run unopposed in the Democratic primary.A graduate of St. Timothy grade school and Father Judge High School (Class of 1985), he is a married father of two.The challenger promises to be a full-time councilman, fighting for more police and fire personnel for district residents who pay high taxes.The candidate’s vision includes children playing safely on playgrounds and senior citizens on fixed incomes being able to afford to pay their bills.
Other issues include schools, jobs and small businesses.The Democrat served as trustee and vice chairman of the Philadelphia Board of Pensions and Retirement and has held various positions with AFSCME District Council 33.Rubin is a member of the District Attorney’s Youth Aid Panel where first-time juvenile offenders are encouraged to change the direction of their lives. He is also an active member of Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 25 and St. Albert the Great Parish.
